2007 Regular Legislative Session

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and staff, we are pleased to provide you with the following brief description and the act number of the legislation that was sponsored by the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Pension Fund Board of Trustees and passed in the 2007 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature.

Act 78

Requires the completion of advanced education in actuarial science, investments, laws applicable to the system, and fiduciary duty and ethics by potential trustees prior to being elected or appointed as trustees. Effective 07/01/07

Act 230

Provides for the option of a four-year Back-DROP period for members with 30 or more years of service. Effective 07/01/07

Act 308

Provides for the payment of a 3% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for retired and disabled members and survivors who have been receiving a benefit for one full calendar year. Effective 07/01/07
Provides for the payment of a 2% COLA for all pension recipients 65 and over. Effective 07/01/07
